IMMUNIZATION CLINIC CHANGES

As a result of diminishing funds, providers of VFC (Vaccines for Children) supplied vaccine must follow new program requirements:

  • VFC vaccine can only be administered to VFC-eligible children less than 19 years of age.  VFC eligible children are limited to: Medicaid recipients (including All Kids), Native American (American Indian or Alaskan Native) or uninsured children.
  • Effective Jan. 1, 2013, underinsured children (children with insurance that does NOT cover any vaccines, does not allow all recommended vaccines, has coverage caps on the number of provider visits, or has payment caps at a certain dollar amount) can only receive VFC supplied vaccine at a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC).  Tazewell County Health Department is a FQHC.
  • Insured children cannot be vaccinated with VFC vaccine.  These children must be vaccinated with vaccine purchased by the health department.  Children with insurance will be able to pay for vaccines at TCHD clinics. A receipt with appropriate information will be provided to request reimbursement from their insurance company.

Beginning January 2013, all clinics in East Peoria, Morton, Pekin and Washington will be BY APPOINTMENT ONLY from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. To schedule your immunization appointment, contact 309-925-5511, ext 235.
