May 21-27, 2018 is Healthy and Safe Swimming Week

SPRINGFIELD – Healthy and Safe Swimming Week, May 21-27, 2018, is being observed the week before Memorial Day, a day when many pools open for the summer. This year’s national theme is “Swim Healthy. Stay Healthy.” The week is dedicated to educating people on how they can take an active role in protecting themselves and preventing the spread of germs when swimming.

FOOD ORDINANCE PUBLIC MEETING

Tazewell County Health Department(TCHD) has been making proposed updates to the County Food Service Sanitation Ordinance. All food facilities must comply with the Tazewell County Food Service Sanitation Ordinance. The 2013 FDA Food Code requires some of the updates. Other updates require all food facilities to maintain standard operating procedures, variance and HACCP requirements.

Expanded Investigation Into Multi-State E. coli Infections Linked to Romaine Lettuce

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), along with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Food and Drug Administration, and other state and local health departments, is expanding its investigation of a multi-state cluster of E. coli infections to include not only chopped romaine lettuce, but full heads and hearts of romaine lettuce.
